Micro Planet is an ongoing exploration into the micro-macrocosm of the natural world. Looking inwards through the lens you are transported to the microscopic scale of nature. When looking through the microscope one starts to imagine alien worlds and planets. It appears mysterious, strange and cosmic in a similar way to looking outwards through a telescope.
Our ability to transcend our human vision through these inventions has allowed us to step outside of the anthropocentric idea of scale, challenging our inherent feeling of being “normal sized”. Instead we find that we are on a scale that stretches seemingly infinity in both directions, providing a sense of the sublime.
This first series of microscopic pictures taken with a portable microscope feature the flora and fauna and geologically diverse rocks found in different regions of Iceland.
